How do we think about who to interview?
As I think about who to speak to and what topics to address on The Pastor’s Heart my key question is ‘what will be most helpful for my peers in helping us in our common task of seeking the lost and building up the saints as we seek to bring glory to Christ.’
I really appreciate suggestions of topics and guests. And as our audience has grown we are getting more suggestions for which we are grateful.
Some suggestions come where really it’s an idea with the blatant the goal of advertising a particular ministry. And if I were to do that interview it would effectively be a straight advertorial.
While those ministries are almost always worthwhile I am not seeing our goal as advertising so I am unlikely to be keen on pursuing that idea.
If there is an angle or approach to the person or topic where speaking to this person might be of clear benefit to ministry leaders in how we fulfil our mission then I am more likely to be interested.
